Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism can be a difficult condition to diagnose because it is often masked by other symptoms such as depression, weakness, fatigue, slow metabolism, hormonal imbalances, coarse hair/brittle nails, slow lymphatic drainage resulting in edema, and menstrual problems. A basal temperature test or a blood test will confirm hypothyroidism.

Hashimoto's disease and Graves' Disease are two common forms of hypothyroidism.

Treatment

- In most cases, thyroid hormone replacement therapy is necessary

- Supplements- Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc, Vitamin B complex

- Exercise – stimulates the thyroid and assists in gland secretion.
