Insomnia




Insomnia is marked by poor quality of sleep and may manifest itself in any of the following ways:
- problems falling asleep
- becoming wakeful during the night
- waking too early
- waking unrefreshed
- overall inability to sleep

Causes

- Stress
- Noise or interruptions
- Extremes in temperature
- A change in lifestyle or circumstance
- Depression
- Excessive alcohol or caffeine
- Shiftwork

Treatment

- Relaxation therapy - - Aromatherapy - oils such as Nutmeg, Lemon, Tumeric and Yarrow are soothing.

- Supplements – Vitamin B6, Magnesium, Melatonin, Niacin

- Herbs – Passionflower, valerian, skullcap

- Regular exercise during the day

- Just before bed - chamomile tea a hot bath, or reading a book

- Refrain from eating after 5 pm.
