Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a lack of calcium in the bones which results in a loss of bone mass. It is caused by poor absorption of calcium or an estrogen deficiency and is now considered a common lifestyle disease.

Treatment

- Avoid soft drinks (the phosphate in soft drinks depletes uptake of calcium which is why many men between the ages of 18 and 25 are at risk of osteopenia, a less severe condition of osteoporosis), salt, sugar and excessive protein (protein also decreases calcium uptake).

- Supplement – Multivitamin, Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin D, Boron

- Increase exercise

- Eat green leafy vegetables

- Avoid coffee, alcohol and smoking
